AI Education Is Turning Toward Use Training

The clearest AI learning signal this week: educators are moving past tool tours toward documented human-AI workflows with checks, disclosure, and review points.
The live question in AI education is becoming more concrete: can anyone show a defensible sequence for using it? This week's evidence supports that narrower point, though most of it comes from educator, journal, and provider-owned discussion rather than broad independent clinician conversation.
Across this week's sources, the common thread was not generic reassurance about oversight. It was a more practical question: when should AI be used, what gets checked, what gets documented, when should use be disclosed, and where does human review remain nondelegable.
A provider-owned CME discussion framed the gap plainly: many teams have habits, not workflows, making AI use harder to explain to clients and compliance reviewers (Write Medicine). A JAMA-adjacent conversation pressed a similar point from the education side, arguing that credible human-AI teaming depends on task-specific review and verification rather than casual outsourcing. A broader education source likewise described AI as part of structured teaching systems rather than a loose add-on (NEJM This Week).
For CME providers, that changes what counts as useful AI education. Introductory literacy and prompt tips still have a place, but they are less defensible as the whole offer. As our earlier brief on AI use training noted, the series had already been tracking movement away from general awareness alone. This week sharpens the next step: teaching the sequence itself.
The caveat is straightforward. This is not clean evidence of broad grassroots clinician demand; much of the support is educator-led, journal-led, or provider-owned, and some examples are radiology-adjacent. Still, the implication travels because the underlying issue is workflow defensibility, not one specialty's content.
The operator question for CME teams is simple: if a learner finished your current AI activity today, could they describe one stepwise workflow for a real task, including checks, documentation, disclosure, and handoff points?
